Brown Family Portrait

This week I finished up this stunning portrait for the Brown family. I needed to make a sample to share my work with people who might be interested in custom portraits for their families, and the upcoming birthday of a good friend was just the excuse I needed!

The Brown family portrait is finished and framed just in time for a friend’s birthday present!

It took me around eighteen hours to stitch, press, and frame the entire portrait. There are two particular parts of the portrait that I’m very happy with, so I want to point them out. First, their son’s short, curly hair turned out really nice:

I used French knots to give the short, curly hair its curly appearance.

Second, the hair I stitched for one of their daughters turned out really nice. She had her hair pulled back in a half-up, half-down hairstyle and I was able to pull some threads back to give it just the right look:

I twisted a few threads and pinned them back to achieve this hairstyle.

Overall, this project looks really great! I can’t stop looking at it and can’t wait to make one of my own family to hang in our home.
